Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software was once only available to very large companies who could afford it.  More recently, CRM packages have been made available to smaller to medium sized businesses also and offer features that enable these companies to do business like their larger counterparts.  The availability of CRM software to smaller companies enables them to not only keep a database of their clients but better manage their customer relationships.  For example, Method Integration allows a business to keep track of customers, sale stages, phone calls and helps manage customers through the prospecting, sales, project, and follow-up stages. There are a number of CRM packages that integrate with QuickBooks to extend the functionality of QuickBooks.  Each of them are unique in their approaches, but all help manage customer relationships and can keep track of phone calls, emails, and other activities.
  • Method Integration - because of Method's best in breed integration with QuickBooks and many other features, this is our top recommended system to help keep track of customer relationships.  To start, this web based solution allows all QuickBooks fields and information such as customer details, vendor details, invoices, payments, deposits, bills, etc. to be viewed and updated via the web.  Then, they add robust customer management features and even enable customer, vendor, and employee portals.  In addition, this solution can be endlessly customized to meet specific needs.  If you track non-standard information in your company, just add those fields to the customer record and begin tracking the information within Method.  Pricing is very reasonable too starting at $25 per user per month.
  • Results CRM, Oasis CRM, and Legrand CRM - these three CRM solutions are other prominent QuickBooks integrated CRM solutions that have been on the market for a number of years.  All three have desktop and web-based counterparts and offer robust customer management and tracking.  The systems are somewhat customizable in that a predetermined number of custom fields can be defined, however you will find that  more complex customization is available with Method Integration.  They do allow the tracking of phone calls, emails, and other customer activities and all three have decent support options and are priced reasonably.
  • Salesforce.com - this solution has gained a lot of traction over the past few years as a highly customizable customer relationship management solution.  It is a web-based solution that can be customized according to specific company processes, however integration with QuickBooks requires a third party solution and isn't as good as the above solutions.  It does have a marketplace of integrated solutions though as so although its integration with QuickBooks isn't best in breed, it does offer integration with many other industry specific solutions.
  • Connectwise PSA - For IT professionals, Connectwise could be a great solution for managing all aspects of tracking and billing for services.  It offers ticket management, knowledge base management, billing, and integration with QuickBooks.  It is also somewhat customizable, however not as customizable as Method or Salesforce.  For those looking for a pre-built solution with most of the features needed in the IT industry, this may be a good solution.
